ADSL - Frequently Asked Questions
ADSL Plans
Can I churn from another provider's ADSL2?
- Currently we support the ability to quickly move from Optus ADSL2+ ULL to our "Naked" ADSL2+ plans only.
Can I use my own modem?
_ Yes, as long as it is "A-Tick" approved for use in Australia. Check your modem for an approval tick (or simply search for the name of your mdoem and a-tick to find out). If you're still not sure, ask us.
What sort of speeds can I expect on an AlwaysONLINE ADSL service?
- Speeds using ADSL broadband vary depending on a number of factors. When connecting to the Internet using ADSL, your ADSL modem connects to a phone line, and communicates with a device at your telephone exchange. The further you are from the phone exchange, the lower the speed that your modem can connect at.
Additionally, when downloading a file or video on the Internet, the host of the content typically has a fixed amount of capacity (bandwidth) available to all users on the Internet. Depending on the host of the content, speeds may vary.
AlwaysONLINE strives to ensure that ample capacity is available on its network. We use technologies designed to serve common Internet content at a fast rate from our datacenters in Sydney.
There are a variety of ADSL plans available. How do I pick a plan that is best for me?
- AlwaysONLINE has a variety of different ADSL plans to suit different needs.

How can I check my usage for the month?
- You can check your usage for the current month, as well as previous usage and billing history by logging into
My Account.
Can I easily change plans to better suit my download needs?
- Yes, we allow you the flexibility to easily request to change your plan.
You are not locked in to a plan for a fixed period like other providers.
This change will be effective the next billing month.
I currently have my ADSL bundled with PhoneSelect, can I unbundle my service?
- Yes, we allow you the flexibility to change from a bundled to unbundled ADSL service.
Please note that for some plans this may result in a slightly higher monthly charge.
